What Is Supported Independent Living?

Through Supported Independent Living (SIL), we support individuals to live as independently as possible in their own homes and communities.

Individual support provided may include budgeting, cooking and meal prep, community and home safety, and connecting with resources in their communities. Support is individualized and hours are flexible.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Who is eligible for SIL supports? Can I access SIL while I am still living with my family or while I wait for a Group Living home?

SIL generally supports individuals who live on their own or with a roommate and without a ‘care-giver’ living with them (ie. parents). We can support individuals who are planning to leave their family home and need support preparing to move out (ie. skill building with budgeting, cooking, and getting to know your new neighbourhood).

SIL is not suitable for those who need 24/7 supervision and support.
