On Wednesday, May 6, the Campus Friends Graduation ceremony took place at the University of Guelph, celebrating an important milestone for this year’s graduate, Nicolo.

In addition to Nicolo’s family and friends, guests celebrating his achievements included members of the University of Guelph community, Campus Friends students, mentors and alumni, Experiential Learning Department staff members, and faculty, staff and graduate students from the International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation. Also present were Community Living Guelph Wellington’s Executive Director, Cindy Kinnon and Natalie Robinson, Service Director. Presiding over the graduation ceremony was Karen Calzonetti, Coordinator of Campus Friends since 2017.

Those who have met Nicolo know him to be an enthusiastic and inquisitive learner. Intelligent and hard-working, his positive energy and ability to make others feel welcome are qualities that immediately stand out. As a valued member of Campus Friends, Nicolo explored and developed new skills and interests and built strong friendships with many connected to the University.

Volunteer opportunities for Campus Friends students include University of Guelph Bookstore and Gryphon Field House. The experience closest to his heart was volunteering his time at Campus and Community Radio Station, CFRU 93.3 FM. There, he was able to grow his passion for radio while developing skills in editing, broadcasting, and interviewing under the mentorship and guidance of Jenny Mitchell, Volunteer and Mobile Studio Coordinator. Happily, Nicolo will continue his work with CFRU as host of the Campus Friends Radio Hour.

Beyond his passion for radio, Nicolo is known for his curiosity, enthusiasm for meeting new people, and the many unique interests and talents that made his time with Campus Friends memorable.

While his chapter as a Campus Friends student ends, we are excited to see what comes next for Nicolo. His determination, kindness, and enthusiasm will no doubt continue to make a positive impact in all that he does, wherever he goes. Bravo Nicolo!
