FAQ
Each question is displayed below. You can scroll to find a question that interests you. To see the answer, click the white plus sign ( + ) on the right hand side of the question bar. It will then expand to reveal the answer.
- Book your test at https://clgw.ca/RAT
- Pick your appointment location, and date and time.
- Do your CLGW pre-shift screening in Kronos on the date of your appointment.
- Attend your appointment , get swabbed, and carry on with your day.
- If you test negative, you will receive an email by the end of clinic hours.
- If you test positive, you will receive both a call and an email. You will then be required to get a COVID test from Public Health, notify your supervisor and scheduling (the same process if you were presenting COVID symptoms and failed your screening) and not report to work
Peace of mind. R.A.T. are for asymptomatic people, who want an added layer of reassurance. Rapid Antigen Tests are intended to enable workplaces to identify cases of COVID-19 proactively, supporting employee and people supported safety.
Early detection. We’ve been immensely fortunate to have very low cases of COVID impact the people we support and our staff. This is because of your diligence, hard work, and consistent thoughtfulness to all of the guidelines and precautions in place. We’re adding one more tool to our toolkit, so that employees (and eventually the people we support and their families) can feel confident we’re doing everything we can to keep COVID at bay.
You can attend any of the partner locations across Guelph and Wellington/Dufferin County! Check out Hopewell Homes, and soon-to-be-available Torchlight and Community Living Dufferin for their clinics. All clinics are posted at https://clgw.ca/RAT, and active links to their booking software will be made available as soon they are up and running!
The swab is significantly less invasive than the COVID test administered by Public Health – our testers compared it to a tickle, only 2-3 cms into the nose compared to the deep nasal swab for the COVID-19 test.
As often as you’d like but we encourage you only receive a test once per day at most. You may get tested twice per week, in between relief shifts – whatever makes you feel confident that you’re not carrying COVID.
No, this is a voluntary program. Because the clinics are open to CLGW employees, as well as employees of other organizations, and will eventually include people we support, their families, and other visitors to CLGW, attending a clinic will not be paid time.
At a CLGW location - trained CLGW employees! Each employee received hands-on experience, learning how to safely administer the tests, prepare samples for the testing kit, and how to read results. Hopewell Homes is the lead facility for training Rapid Antigen Testers as part of this project, and brought a nurse on site to walk through every step of the clinic.
We are required to report to the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and the Ministry of Health the number of tests we use, and how many positive/negatives are returned. We do not share identifying information with MCCSS.
Yes. While the Rapid Antigen Test will let you know if you have any viral particles hanging out in your nose, the pre-shift and post-shift COVID screening in Kronos remains required. Personal Protective Equipment, coupled with frequent hand hygiene, physical distancing and disinfecting, remains the top preventative measures to limit the potential spread of COVID.
