Community Living Guelph Wellington's EmployMEnt Options, Action Read and 2nd Chance Employment are teaming up with Project READ to offer Leg UP! to Retail.

This course will prepare adults 18+ with a developmental disability for work in retail. After the course, each person will work with a Skills Trainer on their goal to find a job in the retail sector.
This course includes:
- 36-hour in-class learning (Wednesdays 9:30am-12:30pm and Thursdays 9:30am-12:30pm in-person at Action Read in Guelph)
- Job Coaching & Mental Health (Support in class & after)
- Hands-on skills check-up (at 2 or 3 different area sites)
- Practice interviews with an Employer
- Task & Milestone review
LEG Up! Course Outline
Work Relationships - Manage relationships with co-workers, managers and customers.
Workplace Rules - Learn about standards and policy and procedures of a retail workplace.
Work/Life Balance - Make and keep healthy habits from diet and exercise to rest and free time.
Workplace Math - Grow skills in order-picking, inventory and customer payments.
Dealing with Conflict - Handle hard problems calmly and find an answer.
Task Management - Create habits that work to follow and stay on task.
