Thank you Norm Jary - 42 incredible years of golf, raising funds for CLGW

More than 60 golfers took to the green, helping to raise money for Community Living Guelph Wellington at the last Norm Jary Golf Tournament. On a sunny day, with just the slightest of breezes, it was a golfer's dream - 18 holes of golf surrounded by good and kind-hearted people.

Some 42 years ago, Norm Jary was approached by a past CLGW president, and asked if he would put his name to a golf tournament. More than four decades later, that annual tournament has helped raise just shy of a million dollars for adults with a developmental disability. Those funds have helped create spaces for people to gather and learn, expand transportation options, and innovate the services and supports we offer at CLGW. The generosity and support of golfers, sponsors, and donors alike have made our community more apt and inclusive for the people we support.

The competition on the fairways was fierce. Using Callaway Scoring, Craig Dool, Chris Ion, Devan Jobb and Darren Smith took the lowest gross score, with a total of -52. Cliff Arcand, Ian Clark, Mark Fishburn and Ron Hansen beat out the field for lowest net score, with -53.

Ladies' longest drive was won by Alyssa Clarke, while the men's was won by Devan Jobb. Susan Wahlroth won closest to the pin for the ladies', while Ralph Farley was just inches away from the hole with his winning closest to the pin stroke.

But the real winners are the people supported by Community Living Guelph Wellington. This year's tournament raised more than $10,000 for adults with developmental disabilities.

More, here at CLGW, we feel like we are winners. These past 42 years have been an amazing partnership with Norm Jary, the City of Guelph, and our community. Norm, you have been a beacon for inclusion, community and helping to put Community Living into the fore. We are tremendously grateful for all that you have done to support our organization and threading opportunities for accessibility and belonging for the people we support. Thank you for all that you have and continue to do.

Special thanks to The Farley Group for being the Norm Jary Gold Sponsor!

Your support helps make this event a big success, while extending what we can do for the people we support.
