Meet Laurie.
When we caught up with Laurie for her We've Got This photoshoot, she was eager to show us how she's been connecting.
Connect 4, that is!
Throughout the pandemic, Laurie has been keeping busy with her housemates by hosting games nights. The rush of calling out Bingo numbers, the head to head strategy of Connect Four have kept the fun. And Laurie has really enjoyed being the one to organize the games (although, she too secretly loves winning when she can!).
Her and her housemates have also had a few craft nights, including painting some ceramics - Laurie has her very own frog prince now!
Laurie is an avid walker. Any chance she can to get out around town, whether it's walking up to the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex, or towards Downtown Fergus, she's enjoyed the fresh air along the way.
While she passes the time walking, playing games, and helping her housemates cook up a storm around the house, Laurie can't wait for things to get a bit more back to normal.
When it's safe to do so, she's really looking forward to getting back to work and seeing more of her friends.
This photo series began as partnership between Community Living Guelph Wellington and Elle Chic Photography to showcase people’s “We’ve Got This” spirit. These photos tell a story. They are a testament of how people have persisted, how they’ve managed… how one year later, we’re still saying we’ve got this.
Read about why we started the We've Got This photo series here.
Additionally, May is Community Living Month. To help us jump start this photo series, we reached out to our community, our direct support professionals and the people they support, asking if they wanted to showcase how they have been managing the pandemic – their “We’ve Got This” spirit. The response has been incredible.
All throughout May, Community Living Month, you will see photos on our social media channels from those who wanted to join in.
We invite you to join in too.
